OVER DE LOCATIE VAN DE INSTALLATIE
De locatie die we zochten moest aan een aantal voorwaarden voldoen. Belangrijk is de letterlijke en figuurlijke laagdrempeligheid van de vitrine waarin de installatie plaats krijgt. Deze moet vanaf de straat te bedienen zijn. Verder moest het een locatie zijn die zich kenmerkt door intensief publiek gebruik. Op zoek naar deze plek ontdekten we de etalage van de ABNAMRO
bank aan de Amsterdamse Jodenbreestraat. Deze voldeed in meerdere
opzichten aan onze voorwaarden. Deze etalage verhoudt zich tot
de menselijke maat. Een ander bijzonder aspect is deaanwezigheid
van een geldautomaat direct naast het raam. Beide zijn gebaseerd
op1 op 1 communicatie tussen mens en apparaat. De een is bekend
en functioneel, de ander experimenteel en uitnodigend. De ABNAMRO bleek enthousiast over ons plan en is bereid de betreffende
etalage beschikbaarte stellen voor Sanctuary City. |
ABOUT THE LOCATION OF THE INSTALLATION The location that we were looking for had to comply to certain conditions. Important is the accessability of the window in which the installation will take place. This should be available to the user from a streetlevel. Furthermore it has to be a location that is distinguished by intense public usage. In search of this location we discovered the display window of
a ABNAMRO-bank at the Jodenbree Street in Amsterdam. It met with
our conditions in more ways than one. The windows proportions
relate to the human scale. Another special aspect is the presence
of an Automatic Telling Machine next to the window. Both are based
on the The ABNAMRO showed an interest for our plan and has made the window
