WIE IS SANCTUARY CITY?
Joost Verhaak is afgestudeerd bij de afdeling grafisch ontwerpen van de Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. Gedurende een stageperiode bij de digitale afdeling van VPRO televisie onderzocht hij de positie van de ontwerper binnen het proces van digitale media en later meer specifiek digitale communicatie in de openbare ruimte.
In 1997 startte hij met Rogério Lira het
samenwerkingsverband Mount.nl dat zich richt op digitale communicatieve processen in brede zin.

Gabriëlle Marks is in 1997 afgestudeerd bij de afdeling grafisch ontwerpen van de Gerrit Rietveld Academie. Momenteel volgt zij de post-academische opleiding voor 'emergent media' bij Media-GN in Groningen, wat o.a. de gelegenheid biedt om samen te werken met autonome kunstenaars en ontwerpers met architectonische, theater en audio-visuele achtergrond. Hier onderzoekt ze wat de rol van nieuwe media is en kan zijn binnen de wereld van kunst
en vormgeving.

WHO IS SANCTUARY CITY?
Joost Verhaak graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. During an internship at the digital department of VPRO television he investigated the position of the graphic designer within the communication process of digital media and later delved further into the role of digital communication within the public space.
In 1997 together with Rogerio Lira he started a collaboration called Mount.nl, their main focus lies on digital communication processes.

Gabrielle Marks graduated in 1997 from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam and is currently doing a post-graduate course in 'emergent' media at Media-GN in Groningen, The Netherlands, seizing the opportunity to work together with artists and designers from theatre, architectural and audio-visual backrounds. Here she is investigating the role that (not so) new media can, do or will play in the world of arts and design.
